The Language Diversity Lab at the University of Maryland, College Park seeks to advance research on typical and atypical language development for children who speak more than one language. Our work focuses on novel methods for identifying communication disorders in children who speak two or more languages. We explore how innovative technologies can be integrated into traditional assessment techniques to enhance the accuracy of diagnostic determinations. Additionally, we study education outcomes for children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. By pursuing these research objectives, we strive to bridge gaps in understanding and support for children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, ultimately creating a more inclusive and equitable educational environment for all individuals.
